About me

I used to sit and watch my Nan (god rest her soul) cook in her kitchen a lot! I used to watch as the rest of the family would pile in to a table spread fit for a king. My favourite would always be her cheese toasted sandwiches. Plenty of butter on the outside of thick white bread and loads of cheddar (the secret to the perfect toastie). She serve some with the “magical pickle” only my Nan seemed to find in the supermarket. It turn out in my adult life that it was merely sweet pickle instead of the bog standard Branston Pickle. My mother never thought to buy this gloriously sweet accompaniment so I thought my Nan was the only one who served it up.

This is where the love for cooking, serving and eating good food comes from. Seeing my family all gather to enjoy good food, not always caring about the calorie content or if it was allowed on their new fad diet. Just enjoying it!

So this is the blog where I stick up my food recipes, a journal of my eating habits.

Some of the recipes are classic, simple, well-known. But in conversations with my friends it seems people need ideas, inspiration, confidence when it comes to cooking. I cooked my first Lasagne(a) the other day. What’s this? a guy writing a food blog and he’s never made Lasagne(a)? That’s my whole point. What is simple to one is not to another. The aim of my blog is to give you simple, classic dishes with my own twists to cook for yourself.

If you have any comments/ideas please share them!

And finally, happy cooking!
